Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' come alive at the brand new Awfully Chocolate Bakery & Cafe, complete with live chocolate taps, chocolate tempering machines, fresh on-site baking and $25 dinner menu sets
Started in 1998 selling their signature All Chocolate Cake, Awfully Chocolate has quickly grown from one store into a group of shops, cafes and restaurants, and spreading their love for dark chocolate both in Singapore and overseas.
The brand’s cosy and tastefully decorated flagship store boasts new chocolate taps and chocolate tempering machines for delicious drinks. It serves up a contemporary, wholesome selection of well-loved comfort food, live-baked pastries, a huge spread of cakes and slices, biscuits and chocolates, as well as a scrumptious brunch and dinner selection.
Bakery Club Brunch
A very popular crowd pleaser is their Bakery Club Brunch, a specially curated brunch set for two which features Seasonal Fruit & Muesli Plate crafted with caramelised poached pear, fresh berries, muskmelon, juicy peach and toasted muesli in greek yoghurt drizzled with maple.
Next up are their velvety Truffle Cream Eggs, served with a very generous shaving of parmesan snow, and paired with a 48-hour proofed Flatbread with Roasted Aubergine baked only upon order. But the piece de resistance has to be the house signature Really Fresh Chocolate Milk that the brunch set includes. Made with Awfully Chocolate’s Premium 100% Dark Cocoa and freshly frothed with Hokkaido milk, this creamy and chilled, indulgent treat is worth every calorie. And it’s very hard to stop at just one glass, trust us!
Really Fresh Chocolate Milk
Alternatively, you can also choose to have one of the chilled milk glasses swapped out for hot chocolate served straight out of their chocolate taps. Seriously, where else can you get that in Singapore?
Brunch Plate
Other Brunch plates include their Singapore Borscht (a tender stewed beef soup served with freshly baked soft roll); Grilled Steak & Cheese Panini featuring minute steak, caramelised onions, mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan; or the Brunch Plate, offering scrambled eggs, sausage patty, thick cut bacon, portobello, toast and strawberry confiture.
Tiramisu French Toast
If you prefer something sweet for brunch instead, you can’t go wrong with Pancake & Strawberries – buckwheat pancakes served with maple, warm strawberry confiture and vanilla cream cheese; or the Tiramisu French Toast, featuring espresso brioche french toast with mascarpone, roasted pistachios, sabayon and maple syrup.
Onsen Egg & Black Fungus Pasta
But don’t let the chocolate-heavy emphasis fool you. This cafe is an all-day dining bistro, offering a sophisticated dinner menu of amazing value (just $25 for a starter and a main) every day from 6pm. Choose from six starters of soups and salads, such as the French Onion Soup or the Warm Camembert & Pear Salad.
Pair that with mains flanking perfectly cooked meats such as tender, melt-in-your mouth Angus Brisket with fondant potato; Ribeye with portobello, peppercorn pan sauce and truffle fries; Grilled Red Snapper with herb garni served with asparagus, fondant potatoes and garlic & caper aioli; and a selection of pastas, including the vegetarian-friendly Onsen Egg & Black Fungus tagliatelle in a cream broth.
