JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon
Embraces The Art Of Matcha

At The Lounge, JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon presents a matcha afternoon tea inspired by the gardens of Uji. Created with Japanese tea house Nagocha, the experience brings ceremonial-grade matcha into a carefully paced menu of savouries, pastries and pairings, offering a calm take on Japanese tea culture.

In a city defined by movement, The Lounge at JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon offers a reason to slow down. Its new Matcha Garden Afternoon Tea turns a familiar ritual into a refined exploration of Japanese tea culture, combining thoughtful presentation with a clear sense of flavour.

Created in collaboration with Nagocha, the menu takes inspiration from the tea gardens of Uji, Kyoto. At its centre is Chakami no Ujiwa Matcha, a ceremonial-grade matcha sourced from Japan. Executive Pastry Chef Chayasit uses its natural bitterness, gentle sweetness and vegetal depth to shape the experience from beginning to end.

The tasting opens with Matcha Scones served with vanilla mascarpone cream, orange butter and chia berry jam. Savoury courses follow, including smoked duck with summer corn salsa on matcha bread, a seafood croquette with mozzarella and truffle oil, and a matcha tartlet filled with edamame hummus and walnut. A matcha choux with foie gras, red currant chutney and balsamic pearls brings a richer final note to the savoury selection.

Desserts continue the story in a lighter register. Coconut Pandan Cake, Matcha Azuki Roll Cake, Matcha Cookies and Yuzu Praline balance earthy tea notes with tropical coconut, sweet red bean and bright citrus. Each piece presents matcha differently, allowing its character to unfold through contrasting textures and levels of intensity.

A bespoke Tasting Guide leads guests through the menu in the intended order, giving the experience an easy rhythm without making it feel overly formal. For a deeper introduction to the tea itself, guests can add the Nagocha Experience, featuring a Chakami no Ujiwa Matcha Latte made with pure matcha from Uji. Smooth, aromatic and softly bitter, it pairs naturally with both the savoury and sweet courses. Natural light, soft green accents and the calm atmosphere of The Lounge complete an experience that feels polished yet relaxed.

The Matcha Garden Afternoon Tea is served daily from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and is priced at VND 1,200,000++ per set for two guests, including TWG tea or coffee. The Nagocha Experience is available at VND 180,000++ per guest.

More than a seasonal menu, it is a quiet invitation to enjoy matcha with greater attention, one course and one moment at a time.
