Hotel Indigo Saigon The City’s First Mooncake Collection

In celebration of its first Mid-Autumn season since opening, Hotel Indigo Saigon The City proudly introduces Cà-Moon – the hotel’s debut mooncake collection. Inspired by the cherished Vietnamese stacked lunchbox – cà-mên – which has accompanied countless heartfelt homemade meals through generations, this elegant and meaningful creation reflects the spirit of reunion through a uniquely Saigonese lens.

The Vietnamese Lunchbox – A Symbol of Love and Everyday Life

To generations of Vietnamese, the cà-mên is more than a lunchbox—it is a vessel of love, filled with the comforting warmth of home-cooked rice, tangy soups, or tender braised dishes. Carried daily to school or work, it speaks of quiet devotion and the tender rituals of everyday life. With each tier stacked in care, it holds not only food, but the enduring affection of those who prepare it.

The name Cà-Moon – a blend of 'cà-mên' and 'moon' – is a heartfelt tribute to these sacred memories. As the Mid-Autumn Festival brings loved ones home, the image of the lunchbox evokes a profound sense of reunion, where emotions are conveyed silently through each meal and layer of memory.

A Slice of Saigon – Nostalgic Yet Radiant

Cà-Moon is crafted in a four-tier cylindrical form that mirrors the traditional cà-mên structure, representing simplicity and intentionality. Adorned in bold crimson and golden accents, the box radiates warmth and togetherness. Its gold-plated metal handle adds sophistication while honoring the iconic lunchbox silhouette.

The exterior features embossed symbols of Saigon: bicycles, motorbikes, Ben Thanh Market, Ba Son Bridge, and the Central Post Office, each capturing the essence of a vibrant city. Inside, the smaller boxes are adorned with vintage floral tile patterns reminiscent of old Saigon homes — a tribute to the city's nostalgic soul, when Mid-Autumn meant lion dances, glowing lanterns, trays of mooncakes, and the wide-eyed wonder of childhood.

"We believe the Mid-Autumn Festival transcends celebration; it is a time for reflection, reconnection, and returning to our roots. With Cà-Moon, we aim to provide not just a seasonal gift but a unique slice of Saigon, where memory and modernity intertwine. It’s an invitation to embrace the journey of discovery and connection at the heart of Hotel Indigo Saigon The City," shared Ms. Amy Nhã, General Manager of the hotel.

Four Tiers of Flavour – A Journey Through Memory and Creativity

More than a design, Cà-Moon offers a culinary journey. Each handcrafted mooncake represents a tier of the lunchbox, capturing layers of emotion. Traditional and contemporary elements blend harmoniously in every bite, crafted with care and premium ingredients that celebrate the symbolic meaning of this festive offering.

Each box features four mooncakes – each weighing 150g  – carefully curated to delight a variety of palates. The selection includes a bold Tom Yum Seafood Mixed Nuts mooncake, a savoury Braised Chicken with Black Pepper mooncake—both enriched with a salted egg yolk. For those with a sweet tooth, the box offers a fragrant Strawberry & Pink Guava mooncake, alongside the classic pairing of Lotus Seed & Pandan, also complemented by a salted egg yolk.
