The new hangout dedicated to creative types includes a restaurant on the ground floor, rooftop bar Jo and members-only space Social@Honcho at the basement
The word “honcho” means boss or squad leader, but for renowned local hip-hop DJ KoFlow, it’s also the name of his new venture located in Ang Siang Hill, a lifestyle and F&B concept spanning three floors, comprising a restaurant, rooftop bar and members-only space.
Honcho marks the realisation of a dream more than five years in the making for KoFlow, who collaborated with his former bandmate (from the local Mandarin rap-rock group Chou Pi Jian) and FinTech entrepreneur Amos Poh.

But more than just serving good food and drinks, the turntablist-turned-F&B and nightlife entrepreneur, whose real name is Wayne Liu, hopes it will be a taste-maker – a “head honcho” if you will – among creatives in the modern arts and music culture scene. Think of it as a social hangout and inclusive networking platform for people across creative industries such as mixologists, street artists, graphic designers and content creators, and as a place “to spot talents or be spotted”.

The cool factor will immediately strike diners as they enter the modern izakaya and omakase restaurant. Decked in neon lights and striking black-and-white flooring, diners will enjoy Japanese fusion cuisine by head chef Terence Ong while listening to KoFlow’s curated musical selection of funk, soul, and hip-hop.

On the roof is Jo, a local craft-beer-centric bar with a breezy view of Chinatown and Central Business District. In an effort to include more Singaporean brands, Tanglin Gin (Singapore’s first local distillery) is the dominant spirit used in its cocktails here, while Off Day Beer (local craft beer company) is the main tipple. For a quieter tete-a-tete, head downstairs to the basement. Called Social@Honcho, the space is a cocoon for members and like-minded individuals.
