Jacques and Laurent Pourcel, the inspiration behind some of the top gastronomic restaurants around the world, focus on producing truly inspirational cuisine from their Mediterranean homeland.
The Pourcel twins, Jacques and Laurent, contribute their success in the culinary world to their mother, who gave them a great philosophy towards life and an enthusiasm for regional cooking. Their career path has been inspired by the south of France and their cuisine reflects their homeland, drawing on both land and sea, the contrasts of hot and cold, smooth and crunchy, sweet and savoury, honeyed and sour.
In 1988, they opened Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, they were 24 years old. Their restaurant quickly became one of the top gastronomic venues in the south of France. The Michelin stars and awards followed in quick succession and in 1998 they were awarded their third Michelin star for their creative style of fine food.
In 2000 they branched out onto the international stage and now have restaurants in Bangkok, Tokyo, Geneva, Marrakech, Casablanca and Paris, but are also making their mark in Singapore (at Raffle’s) and in Shanghai, with the first Relais Gourmand in China (Sens & Bund). The Jardin Des Sens in Ho Chi Minh City is their latest initiative. The initiatives and entrepreneurship of the brothers extends far beyond the restaurants themselves. Cookbooks, “fast food” based on the idea of chic snacks, a cookery school and lounge bars are just some of their enterprises. Passionate about exploring new culinary concepts and creating new dishes, they aim to share their findings and their passion for the cuisine of the Mediterranean coast, the one guiding principle being olive oil, tomatoes and spices.
