Once a year, Bali dedicates a special Day of Silence to mark the New Year on the Balinese calendar. For 24 hours, starting at 6am on 3 March until 6am on the following day, no vehicles are allowed on the streets and lights are kept at the barest minimum. The Ngurah Rai International Airport will be closed for one day. The island will be resting and its inhabitants are invited to embrace the soulful silence from their residents or the comfort of the island’s finest resorts.
