Exploring a safe haven for travellers

Desaru Coast is easily accessible, especially with travellers from Singapore. While there will be pent-up demand for travel, many travellers might still choose to holiday closer to home. It also offers a safe haven for travellers with an abundance of wide-open spaces; it is the perfect place to avoid crowds.

Why Visit Desaru Coast?

Convenience! Desaru Coast is easily accessible, especially with travellers from Singapore. While there will be pent-up demand for travel, many travellers might still choose to holiday closer to home.

With close to 4,000 acres and 17km of pristine beach, Desaru Coast offers a safe haven for travellers with an abundance of wide-open spaces; it is the perfect place to avoid crowds. Named as one of the World’s Greatest Places for 2021 in TIME Magazine 2021, the destination is home to four world-class luxury hotels, including Asia’s first One&Only, Anantara Resort and Villas, The Westin, and Hard Rock Hotel, two award-winning golf courses, as well as the region’s largest waterpark.

Desaru Coast boasts an abundance of experiences suited for all audiences. These experiences include nature-inspired activities, such as beach walks, bird-watching, and eco-tours with experienced naturalists, edutainment activities for families, visits to fruit farms and local attractions, luxury wellness services at hotel spas, yoga sessions by the beach, and adrenalin-pumping activities like bike tours, kayaking, and ATV tours.

For Singapore-based businesses, MICE programs offer fully customisable events that will inspire, rejuvenate, and reconnect teams. Future MICE at Desaru Coast can also be designed with a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences. From corporate events, conferences, and exhibitions to destination weddings, celebrations, and large-scale sports events, Desaru Coast can cater to all needs.  This year, we are hosting L’Etape by Tour de France and Desaru Coast IRONMAN, which are great ways to draw travellers looking for active experiences.

Health & Safety First Desaru

Coast has always gone above and beyond the prescribed standard with our health and safety control measures and SOPs, both internally for employees and externally for guests. We initiated Stay Well @ Desaru Coast, a proactive and strict destination-wide health and safety program, which continuously strengthens precautionary measures and help minimize the spread of the virus.

Furthermore, our world-class resorts apply their respective global health and safety standards at each property. Guests staying with us can be assured that the international safety standards of Marriott International, Hard Rock International, Minor Hotel Group Limited, and Kerzner International are in effect.

All our employees and service providers are fully vaccinated, and we continue to conduct weekly rotational testing of 25% of our workforce and contract workers weekly. As we move towards an endemic state, Desaru Coast will continue to stay ahead of the SOPs provided and find ways to allow guests to have peace of mind while staying with us.

Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal

The opening of the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal will be a game-changer. The terminal is fully equipped with customs, immigration, and a quarantine complex and can accommodate 300 people at any given time.

We will offer direct access from Singapore and Indonesia in just over one hour – 90 minutes from Tanah Merah, 75 minutes from Batam, and 45 minutes from Bintan. The market opportunities with the ferry terminal go beyond those based in Singapore, as we will be introducing easy fly & ferry holidays for arrivals into Singapore who seek a beach holiday.

An international traveller who arrives in Singapore can easily spend their weekend in Desaru Coast, enjoying the sea air and open spaces, all while squeezing in a few rounds of golf at midday before heading to work in Singapore come Monday morning. Cycling enthusiasts can now ride cross-border along stretches of the scenic routes in any of the SIJORI (Singapore-Johor-Riau) sites.

Tips Before Visiting

My advice would be: Just take that trip! It has undoubtedly been a turbulent time, and travel these days may feel daunting, but as long as you are well prepared and well informed, it can be a relatively smooth experience.

For travellers to Desaru Coast, we want guests to feel confident and comfortable when booking with us. So ahead of leisure travel between Singapore and Malaysia, we will provide guides and checklists for travellers to ensure that they are well prepared before and during their stay. These will include steps on Trace-Together apps, guidance on submitting Covid test results, and the latest and updated requirements.
